If you do need a taxi you can rely on our local hackney service “Fryanair” (John & Mary Fryer) to get you to and from your destination safely. Your taxi will be available on short notice and at very reasonable fare. The local towns of Carrick on Shannon have many fine pubs, cafes and restaurants, along with a cinema and bowling alley if you do wish to venture further afield.
Just 1 mile north of Riverhaven is the oldest pub in the local area. Clancy’s pub was establishes in 1842 and is renowned for the consistent good quality of the Guinness served there. Visitors to Clancy’s pub can enjoy meeting the locals and frequently experience good music sessions while relaxing at the bar counter.
A visit to Andersons Thatch pub between Carrick-on-Shannon and Elphin is an experience not to be missed. The proprietor Gene Anderson is an excellent entertainer who plays more than 5 different musical instruments. If Jasoon is there on the night there will surely be a dancing lesson and before you go home you will have enjoyed dancing the “stackín órna” or “shoe the donkey”.
