Things To Do
Angling/Fishing
Boyle River and Lough Key which adjoin Riverhaven Log Cabins are ideal for both novice and experienced anglers. There are a multitude of other fishing options including several excellent fishing lakes and rivers locally for pike, trout, bream, tench, etc and also excellent salmon and trout rivers and lakes within a short drive from the accommodation.
Walking
There are many walking options locally including a large number of 2 - 7 km looped lake, riverside and forest walks and also many longer Way marked walks including the Arigna Miner’s Way and Arigna Historical Trail, The Leitrim Way. and Knockvicar Bog Walk Trail.
Golf
Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club is one of the most scenic golf courses in Ireland. Other courses nearby are located at Rosses Point, Longford, Casteldargan, Strokestown and Roscommon. Non members are welcome at all of these course to play for reasonable green fees. Club rental is also available at some courses.
Equestrian
Moorlands Equestrian Centre is located approx 10 minutes drive away and caters for both novice and experienced riders. Lough Gara Riding Stables is located approximately 20 minutes away andother riding centres are located in Leitrim and Sligo (30 mins drive).
Watersports
The area is very popular with kayak and canoeists with kayaks available for rent locally. Carrick-on-Shannon Rowing Club was established in 1827 and the Lough Allen Adventure Centre, located on the shores of Lough Allen, offers a variety of activities including canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing.
Boat Trips
Moon River Pleasure Cruiser in Carrick-on-Shannon caters for groups of up to 110 passengers. Music sessions are provided during selected cruises. Tours of Lough Key are also available with the Trinity Boat Tour company daily during the summer season.
Farmer's Markets
Excellent farmer's markets are held each Saturday in Boyle and on Thursdays in Carrick-on-Shannon. Fresh, Vegetables, Fruit, Fish and Breads are available along with local crafts and other produce.
Entertainment / Theathres
A selection of theatre, comedy and music productions are regularly available in Carrick on Shannon, Sligo, Manorhamilton and Longford.
Music
A local music session in held in the local pub every Saturday night and Traditional Irish and Bluegrass music sessions are available in pubs in the locality several nights during per week.
